Liverpool City Council and LEVC Offer Electric Taxis Trials

Liverpool City Council, in partnership with London Electric Vehicle Company, have created a “try before you buy” scheme for those taxi drivers who are wishing to purchase a new electric Hackney Carriage but would like to test drive one for 2 weeks first before they commit to a purchase. The scheme has been a success with many drivers taking up the opportunity and then purchasing a new electric taxi.

These new vehicles produce significantly less pollution than the old diesel taxis and will contribute to the Councils ongoing commitment to reduce air pollution in the city. Any taxi drivers interested in this scheme can contact the Licensing Service for more information at licensing@liverpool.gov.uk
